
Sr. Manager, Airfield Maintenance

CLASS SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing all aspects of airfield and land side maintenance, airport owned property, security fencing, airfield signage and lighting; oversees and manages the Airfield Maintenance budgets and personnel. Directs snow removal operations on movement and non-movement areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
- Manages, delegates and reviews assigned work. Provides coaching, counseling and staff development. Evaluates performance and applies organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintains the proper staffing level and ensures that proper skills are in place to maintain 24/7 coverage.
- Ensures safety regulations, departmental and organizational policies and procedures are adhered to by all personnel. Maintains close liaison with government regulatory personnel, contractors, professional consultants and others.
- Ensures all work on airfield surfaces is done so in accordance with FAR Part 139 regulations.
- Ensures snow removal operations are conducted in accordance with established plans and procedures.
- Responsible for all contract management activities as documented in KCAB Policy 1014, Contract Management. As the subject matter expert, responsible for all key aspects of contract management ensuring KCAB’s interests are represented in any business activities regarding the agreement.
- Coordinates movement and non-movement area work with Airport Operations to ensure proper notification of all stakeholders and that all established policies are adhered to.
- Prepares and monitors the Field Maintenance Department budget. Specifies and purchases equipment as necessary.
- Works collectively with the management group on the development of organizational objectives.
- Prepares and develops documents relating to department goals, policies and future needs.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Public Administration or a related field and seven years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Obtain/maintain position appropriate NIMS & emergency training
- Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance
- Basic and Advanced ASOS or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Basic and Advanced Snow Academy (AAAE) or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Commercial Driver License - Class A preferred

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, fingering, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
